Speaking to Inverse, Daley and Goldstein confirmed one major aspect of their reboot that will no doubt spark Trekkie fury: this movie will feature “all-new Star Trek characters.”
This past weekend, “Buddy” grossed an estimated $5.4M on just 1,258 screens, doubling initial box-office projections. It’s the highest opening of the year for a film playing on fewer than 1,800 screens.
These two films represent ambitious animated swings that have opted to skip the big four festivals — Venice, Telluride, TIFF and NYFF — and instead make their festival bows in London.
Nothing overly grounded or serious will be found here. This isn’t high art. Colorful visuals, exaggerated characters, and high-energy vibes will be served.
This year’s 12th edition of the Scary Movies festival at Film at Lincoln Center premiered Ari Aster’s extended version of “Midsommar” this past Saturday.
“It was a real pleasure. I love [director] Denis [Villeneuve]. He bravely took on what he referred to as a suicide mission, following such a huge film that I was such a fan of. I thought he did a great job. Those guys really went for it. You have to admire that,” Nolan enthused.
The film stars Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and O’Connell as Larry Lamb, portraying the 1969 launch of the sensationalized The Sun and its lasting impact on journalism.
