At CinemaCon yesterday, Focus Features continued their secrecy regarding Paul Thomas Anderson's new film, there was no footage shown whatsoever, but a release date was confirmed: Christmas Day. We sure hope this gets shown at TIFF, but chances are slim due to production being a little too tight to coincide with the September festival.
Here's the synopsis according to my colleagues over at The Playlist:
"The untitled film is set in the couture world of 1950s London. The story illuminates the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society."
The film also stars Lesley Manville and Vicky Krieps.
Bryld shot "In Bruges," "The Holdovers" and "House of Cards." That seems like the right fit for what is a smaller, character-driven crime story, and a change of pace for McQuarrie after years of stunt-heavy theatrics.
