David Cronenberg's “The Shrouds” has finally received U.S. distribution, courtesy of Janus Films and Sideshow, with a spring 2025 release planned.

Projections had “Transformers One” having a $35M-$40M opening weekend. Well, that clearly didn’t happen. The $75M budgeted animated film only grossed $25M this weekend.

The 72nd San Sebastian Film Festival opened with Audrey Diwan’s "Emmanuelle." The film had been rejected by Cannes and Venice before finally settling for the splashy San Sebastian opener slot. The reviews turn out to be not good for the film.

Back in June, there were some rumors spreading that Lucasfilm’s Rey movie, potentially titled “New Jedi Order,” was going to be shooting in September. I shot down those rumors by simply saying NO CHANCE.

Paramount’s “Apartment 7A,” a “Rosemary’s Baby” prequel about the woman who died outside the apartment when Rosemary moved in, just had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.

“Gladiator II” hasn’t even been released yet, and apparently Ridley Scott already has plans to turn the franchise into a trilogy. I'm not even kidding you. He's comparing the whole thing to the way 'The Godfather' trilogy unfolded.

In his 1997 review of James Cameron’s “Titanic,” Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers wrote that the film was “shot with a poet's eye and a tin ear for dialogue.” This type of criticism of Cameron’s writing has been around for decades.

The film, directed by Josh Cooley (“Toy Story 4”), is expected to take in $40M in its opening weekend, and will thus dethrone “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” for the #1 spot. The budget for ‘Transformer One’ is said to be around $75M.

If you haven’t seen Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s “The Beasts,” it’s well worth checking out. It made a major splash at Cannes 2022 and cemented Sorogoyen as a major talent to watch.
