The Bob Dylan biopic, “Going Electric,” starring Timothee Chalamet, was greenlit by Fox Searchlight during the pandemic. However, a Collider interview, in late 2021, with cinematographer Phedon Papamichael, claimed the film got shelved.
Now, Chalamet is saying that it’s back on and “coming soon.” At least that’s what he told press at the London premiere of “Bones and All.”
“Going Electric,” still being directed by James Mangold, is said to follow Dylan as he “rises to fame on his way to becoming a folk music icon.” This would ideally take place during the singer’s beginnings in the 1960 folk scene in New York City’s Greenwich Village up until Dylan’s 1966 motorcycle crash.
In the meantime, Mangold is currently in post-production for Indiana Jones 5. Mangold’s track record as a director is more-than-decent, his filmography includes the likes of “Ford v Ferrari” “Logan,” and “I Walk the Line.”
Meanwhile, Chalamet is currently shooting the “Dune” sequel and is rumoured to be involved in The Safdie Brothers’ next film, this one set to shoot early next year.
The exact details of the MPA’s rating for “Wildwood” are as follows: Rated PG-13 for “strong fantasy violence/bloody images, thematic material, suicide related material, brief partial nudity and language.”
