‘Leave the World Behind' Was the Most Streamed Movie of 2023

If there’s one movie, theatrical or streaming, that got people talking in 2023, with the exception of “Barbenheimer,” it was Sam Esmail’s “Leave the World Behind”. The apocalyptic thriller was the No. 1 movie in the U.S. on Netflix for almost three weeks.

A24 has announced that Ari Aster’s “Eddington” will star Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler. The film began production this week in New Mexico. Darius Khondji (“Uncut Gems”) is lensing the film.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film is set to be released on August 8, 2025 in theaters, including IMAX. The still-untitled film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti, is still in production. Maybe a Cannes 2025 berth could happen with that date.
