As I predicted would happen, after Scarlett Johansson's exit from the production “Rub & Tug,” due to the whole 'ciswashing' controversy, the film has been scrapped and will likely never happen.
According to The Wrap, Johansson's exit “doesn’t look good for the movie,” meaning the project might just die altogether without Johansson's involvement.
This all goes along with what I said last week, that the actress’ name was the biggest selling factor for the film's existence.
This could be a real blow for people complaining that there aren't enough LGBTQ movies being produced in Hollywood. It could also mean that fewer producers will be willing to finance or package films about the Trans community because they would run the risk of causing a backlash.
