Todd Haynes is a filmmaker that I have grown to truly love over the years. His list of films is staggeringly impressive ("Safe," "Far From Heaven," "Carol") but watching his last film, 2017's "Wonderstruck," was an endurance test. In fact, I kept asking myself "is this really a movie directed by Todd Haynes?" None of the director's visual panache or unsentimentalit worth were on display. This was a film that tried to be like Scorsese's "Hugo," except ended up being its complete opposite in tone and execution. It was a simplified and dumbed-down adaptation of Brian Selnick's ("Hugo" novelist, coincidentally) critically acclaimed children's book. However, we all wondered how Haynes would try to bounce back after that disappointment.

Participant Media has just announced that Mark RuffaloAnne Hathaway and Tim Robbins, will star in an upcoming, and as-of-yet untitled, film from Haynes. The film is said to be based on a true story centered around an environmental lawyer (Ruffalo) that sues the famous Dupont corporation, which eventually exposes the company's massive history of chemical pollution.

Hathaway, Ropbbins and Ruffalo will be joined by a stellar cast which includes Bill Camp, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham, William Jackson Harper, and Bill Pullman.
Official synopsis:
"Inspired by a true story, the untitled film centers around Bilott, played by Ruffalo, whose environmental suit against Dupont would expose a decades-long history of chemical pollution. Participant also has optioned the life rights of Bilott."
There’s no release date set for the film, but production is set to begin next week.
