It's that time of the year again, and once again eccentric filmmaker John Waters has shared his 10 favorite films of the year [via Artforum]. It's become a tradition for cinephiles to acknowledge the release of his list every year, not sure why, maybe it's the fact that he has such eclectic taste and that there is bound to be a film on his list that you feel deserves to be mentioned despite falling through the cracks .  I particularly like this year's inclusion Xavier Legrand's "Custody," a must-see that will definitely make list, which should be published later this week, and Brian Taylor's "Mom and Dad" which features a BONKERS performance from Nic Cage.
Bruno Dumont’s “Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc” tops his list.
1) “Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc” (Bruno Dumont)  2) “American Animals” (Bart Layton) 3) “Nico, 1988” (Susanna Nicchiarelli) 4) “Mom and Dad” (Brian Taylor) 5) “Blindspotting” (Carlos López Estrada) 6) “The Green Fog” (Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson) 7) “Custody” (Xavier Legrand) 8) “Sollers Point” (Matthew Porterfield) 9) “Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992” (John Ridley) 10) “Permanent Green Light” (Dennis Cooper and Zac Farley)
His picks for 2016 and 2017.
