Trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's "Detroit" !!!!

The one movie that I'm most looking forward to this summer is Kathryn Bigelow's “Detroit.” It has the pedigree and social relevance to be a big player come awards season, but its August 4th release date raises questions. Isn't a major player usually supposed to do the festival circuit and get a proper fall release? After all, 8 of the last 9 Best Picture pictures premiered at Telluride. There's the possibility that the release date will change, but, for now, this is a summer movie. Bigelow's "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty" scribe Mark Boal has written the screenplay which details the 1967 Detroit race riots, one of the biggest citizen uprisings in U.S. history. A pertinent topic that, if executed properly by Bigelow, will have critics going gaga.

The cast includes John Boyega, John Krasinski, Jason Mitchell, Anthony Mackie, Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Joseph David-Jones, Algee Smith, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Kaitlyn Dever, Hannah Murray, Jeremy Strong, Chris Chalk, Austin H├ębert, Ephraim Sykes, Laz Alonso, Nathan Davis Jr., Malcolm David Kelley, Peyton Alex Smith and Leon Thomas III.

"Detroit" comes out on August 4th.
