Cannes off to a slow start

We are now on day 3 of Cannes and nothing truly resonates thus far or stands out above the herd. I do hear that Ciro Guerra's "Birds of Passage," playing in "Director's Fortnight," is the only above average film. I've been watching mostly Competition and Un Certain Regard movies, but will catch a market screening of "Birds" tomorrow night at 10:30. I wouldn't worry about the lack of depth though, tomorrow's premieres include the latest films by Jean-Luc Godard, Jia Zhangke and Pawel Pawlikowski.
