Kathleen Kennedy "Would Love" for Taika Waititi to Direct a Star Wars Film

Thor: Ragnarok” is a vast improvement upon the first two Marvel installments, much of it thanks to director Taika Waititi (“Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “What We Do in the Shadows”) who infuses the proceedings with a healthy dose of wacky meta humor. This latest “Thor” movie follows in the footsteps of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Deadpool,” Ant-Man” and, more recently, this past July’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” by not taking itself so damn seriously. The game-changing 2014 “Guardians of the Galaxy” seemed to have sparked a new attitude in Marvel movies — why be so serious about a movie essentially based on a comic book? DC seems to have gotten the memo as well with this year’s entertaining, highly successful and dour-free “Wonder Woman.”
Consider Kathleen Kennedy as a fan of Waititi's.
She told Newshub she rather loved his "amazing" work with "Thor: Ragnarok." "I would love for him to direct a Star Wars movie," she said. "I think he has exactly the right sensibility. It was very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an amazing job with Thor." She then proceeded to say she would "let him know", and laughed "yeah" when asked if it was an actual job offer.
Waititi has expressed his desire to direct a film for the Star Wars universe. "I'm not an idiot. Who would actually say no to Star Wars?" he told Uproxx
I can understand Kennedy's enthusiasm for hiring Waititi. He's a top-notch visualist that uses imagery to further his film's narrative. You can turn the sound off in "Hunt for the Wilder people" or "Thor Ragnarok" and still be transfixed by the films. So Kathleen, what are you waiting for then?
